Many people like to enjoy their favorite sporting activity where ever they are. Besides the normal sporting activites like; tennis, baseball, basketball, bike riding, bowling and soccer, Panama can also facilitate the following activites: GOLF Panama is home to several first-class golf courses. Summit Golf & Resort just 20 minutes outside of Panama City, in the beautiful Panamanian Rainforest hosts International Professional Tour Events and features a Golf Academy with instruction by PGA Professionals. Another great option is Coronado Golf & Beach Resort, one of the best courses in Central America and soon, the Tucan Country Club and Golf, Cielo Paraiso and Vista Mar will add to the list. RIVER RAFTING It is possible to raft the rivers of Chiriqui year round, with rapids varying from class II to class V depending on the season. An adrenaline-filled day out, meandering through breathtaking countryside can be organized through various companies. SCUBA Scuba and snorkeling opportunities abound in Bocas del Toro and the Caribean Coast around Portobelo, where the colorful coral is surrounded by Caribbean sea life. The uniqueness of Panama, however, lies in its Pacific Diving. Opportunities can be found around the coast of Chiriqui, but if time and weather permits, Isla de Coiba should not be missed. Marine life comparable to the Galapagos Islands sis found here around an island that unit recently was home to a penal colony. SPORT FISHING Many world records have been set at Piñas Bay in Panama's Darién province, including the biggest sailfish on record. You can also fish for snapper, tuna, grouper, amberjack, roosterfish, mackerel and black marlin amidst some of the wildest scenery on the planet. SWIMMING For any other country I wouldn't include this sport here, but where else can you swim in both oceans, Atlantic and Pacific, before dinner. |
